Pinbelly Elite (Pty) Ltd is a company owned by four (4) women namely Baikanne Toteng, Gofaone Botshelo, Kenyatsegile Gotewang and Stephinah Gaanakobo. The company is based in Selebi Phikwe and specialises in the manufacturing of cleaning detergents.
When the group started, they had no experience in running a business, and faced challenges with bookkeeping, marketing and financial management. βUpon joining Tokafala, We felt empowered because we now understand how to price profitably and are able to effectively compete in tendering,β Baikanne remarked.
Amongst other markets, the company managed to win a tender to supply cleaning detergents courtesy of Selebi Phikwe District Health Management Teams and Gaborone District Council. Within a year, their revenue increased significantly resulting in the growth of the company from a micro to a small company.
βWe have fulfilled all the prerequisites for selling to the retail market by getting product barcodes, permission to use Brand Botswana mark and adhering to other requirements of packaging and labelling standards.β Baikanne added. The company has managed to list as a supplier to major retail shops such as Choppies, Fours and Welcome Cash & Carry.
The Tokafala programme is an enterprise development initiative launched by Debswana in partnership with the Government of Botswana, De Beers, and Anglo American. It aims to support the growth of small, micro, and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) in Botswana, thereby boosting economic growth and reducing unemployment.
