Materially reduce Debswana’s water intensity and associated impacts in a water-scarce country, lowering operating cost risk while supporting water security in surrounding communities.
What the goal entails
This goal continues and intensifies Debswana’s water-efficiency work by optimising mine water use, increasing recycling and reuse, limiting abstraction and pollution, improving operational discipline through stronger water balances and loss management, and improving access to water for communities.
Contribution to Ya Masa Strategy
The Orapa dry fines project is expected to reduce operating costs, especially when coupled with income-generating streams, namely fertiliser and brick production.
